Trauma intensives: deep work, in concentrated time
When you don't want your healing stretched across months of 50-minute sessions, an intensive gives you focused, dedicated time to go deeper — and build real momentum — in a format designed around you.
What is a therapy intensive?
A therapy intensive replaces the usual weekly, 50-minute rhythm with longer, focused blocks of time dedicated entirely to your healing. Instead of spending the first part of each session re-settling and the last part winding down, an intensive lets us stay in the deeper work — so you can make meaningful progress in days rather than spread thin over many months. It's the same evidence-based trauma care I always provide, simply delivered in a more concentrated, immersive format.
WHEN AN INTENSIVE MAKES SENSE
An intensive may be a good fit if weekly therapy feels too slow or too start-and-stop, if there's a specific event or memory you want to focus on, if your schedule makes weekly sessions hard to sustain, or if you simply feel ready to give your healing real, undistracted time. Intensives can stand on their own or complement the work you're already doing.
FORMATS
Extended session
A single, deeper session for when 50 minutes simply isn't enough room to get where you're going.
Half-day intensive
Focused, concentrated work across a morning or afternoon, with breaks built in — real momentum in a single sitting.
Multi-day intensive
Sustained, immersive work across consecutive days — ideal when you want to focus fully and go further.
Designed around you
No two intensives look the same. We begin with a consultation to understand your goals, your history, and what your nervous system can comfortably hold — then shape the length, pacing, and structure around that. Grounding and breaks are built in, and we never move faster than feels safe. The point isn't to rush healing; it's to give it room.
My approach to intensives
With 15+ years in complex trauma, I bring the same depth and care to an intensive that I bring to every session — drawing on EMDR (I'm EMDR Certified), IFS, and Brainspotting, woven together for the concentrated format. Because longer sessions ask more of your system, careful pacing and safety come first, always. This is deep work done responsibly.
QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Are intensives right for everyone?
Not always — and that's okay. Some people do best with steady weekly work. We'll talk it through in a consultation and decide honestly whether an intensive fits you right now.
Can an intensive replace weekly therapy?
Sometimes. An intensive can be a complete piece of focused work on its own, or it can complement ongoing therapy. We'll decide what makes sense for your goals.
Do you offer intensives online?
Yes — intensives are held securely online for clients across New York and Delaware, with extra attention to comfort and grounding for the longer format.
